The objective of this lesson is for students to discover where the garbage from their community ends up and to explore the impact of garbage in the lives of their partner country.
tudents examine and describe the environment they live in for their partner schools.  Following the description students, through internet investigation and community research,  pinpoint an environmental problem faced in their neighborhood.  The history, and depth of the problem will be outlined and discussed.  Working with their partner schools, students design ways in which they can make a positive difference in this problem.

The objective of this lesson is to facilitate students’ exploration of the important, but sometimes unrecognized role youth have in society.  Students learn about contributions made to society by its younger members by conducting interviews and doing research, and realize the impact youth have had in constructing the environment that exists today.  Students engage in discussions and create a publication showcasing the role of youth in society today.  This lesson serves as a framework for future activities in the 2006-2007 academic year.
