BD LINC Student Biographies PDF Print E-mail
We are lucky to have such a great team of students from Bangladesh for this year's LINC Exchange Project. These students hail from all corners of the country and bring a lot of creativity and energy to the project. All of them are academically gifted, socially aware, and have a strong interest in exploring the world. Their biographies are very impressive:

Chrysantheemum was born and raised in Sunamganj and presently attends the Sunamganj Government Mohila (Girls’) College, in Class 11. She has opted to follow the Science track at the College level. She is a member of the Sumanganj English Club and enjoys listening to music, reading poetry, and meeting people with different backgrounds. She also enjoys playing chess. She has performed voluntary service with the Sunamganj Care Club, particularly during the flooding which occurred in 2004. During the flood, she led students in an effort to raise funds and to collect food, clothes and medicine to help those affected by the flooding.

Nazmun is from Netrokona, Bangladesh, and presently attends the Akramunnarcha College in Rampura. Nazmun enjoys singing, and in fact has performed on radio and television in Bangladesh. In response to tornados which occurred in 2004, She arranged a free concert for the affected people.

Aashramikee is from Rangpur and attends the Rangpur Government College. She enjoys reading (particularly ghost stories) and watching movies. Her other favorite pastimes include cooking, singing, and working on her computer. She has volunteered for many years with the Bishwa Sahitya Kindra organization to promote the value of education to youth in Bangladesh. Recently, she traveled to Thailand and reports that she enjoyed the experience of meeting people from a different culture.

Rubel is from Sunamganj and attends the Government Jubilee High School. His favorite activity is swimming; he is also the manager of the Shubeccha Cricket Club. Rubel is the finance editor at the Hachonagar Student Organization which published a monthly magazine promoting community awareness.

Safi is from Bogra and attends the K.D. Government high School in Naogaon. For fun, Safi likes reading, particularly science fiction. He also plays cricket, football, badminton and table tennis. His talents also extend to singing and dancing. He has won several singing prizes and danced on stage at the Fantasy Kingdom Amusement Park. Safi has participated in scouting in Bangladesh, including participation in two jamborees. Through scouting, he has participated in food distribution and flood relief activities.

Dhrubo is from Sunamganj and he is in class 10 at the Government Jubilee High School. He lists his hobbies as “fishing, playing, gossiping, singing loudly and reading”. He is a sub-leader in his schools’ scouting program, a member of the local Red Crescent Society, and a three-time participant in the World Literature Center Program. He reads widely and enjoys participating in a number of sports including cricket and football.

Shourov attends the Government Jubilee High School in Sunamganj and is presently in class 10. His hobbies include photography, fishing, singing classical songs, and reading poetry. He also enjoys playing cricket, football, and handball. He has served on his school’s Student Merit Provision Association and is a leader in its English Club. He is interested in learning about other cultures and eager to show his own.

Sadeque is from Shyampur and attends the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protistan (BKSP) in Savar. BKSP is a sports institution, and his major sport is basketball. He has participated in basketball matches in both Bangladesh and India and feels that the game teaches important lessons about team work. He has also participated in community assistance efforts during natural disasters.

Ashok is a student at the Government Jubilee High School in Sunamganj. His hobbies include working on computers, reading and playing cricket and watching TV. He is the Class 10 student captain, as well as the captain of the schools’ cricket team. He has participated in community service projects and has coordinated fund-raising drives to help the poor. He is curious about US culture and lifestyle, and looking forward to meeting the US LINC students.

Shakila lives in Uttara, just north of Dhaka and attends the Rajuk Uttara Model School and College. She enjoys reading and creative writing, and talking with her friends.

Habiba is a student at the Rajuk Uttara Model College and is presently in class 10. Her favorite pastime is playing games on her computer and cooking. She is also a member of the school singing club. She has participated in a number of social awareness programs as well as a village vaccination program. She was a team leader for a school group dedicated to assisting flood victims by collecting food and money.

Farhana is from Narshingdi, Bangladesh and attends the Rajuk Uttara Model College. For fun, she likes playing computer games as well as sports. She also enjoys singing and gardening. She has been selected a the Commander of the English Medium Girls’ contingent of the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) and led them during the 2005 Annual Sports Competition.

Shucheta’s family lives in Chandpur, but Shucheta studies at the Rajuk Uttara Model College nearer to Dhaka. She enjoys learning about the world through books, movies and TV. For several years, she has worked with a set of slum dwellers teaching literacy skills and raising awareness of health and sanitation issues. During last years’ tornados, she and her friends provided first aid.

Tazree is a class 10 student at the Rajuk Uttara Model College. For fun, she reads and sings. She is leader of her schools’ debate team and participates in a number of other school activities.
