GYSD Campaign at Garib-E-Newaz PDF Print E-mail
We, the students of the Garib-E-Newaz High School have organized a campaign to celebrate Global Youth Service.

As part of Global Youth Service Day 2006, we

  • conducted a rally to raise awareness about youth service and community needs.  At the rally, we requested people to plant trees, clean up trash, eradicate illiteracy and alleviate poverty from the society.
  • planted trees around the school.  We know that air is an important part of our environment, and that trees can help a lot by providing oxygen to us.
  • did trash clean up in a public area situated at the Halishahar Housing Estate.  We think that garbage can pollute our environment and this type of pollution threatens our existence on the Eaarth.  So, everyone should use a dustbin to clean up the environment.
  • helped the poor by distributing home made food in a shelter.  Often they suffer from illness because of lack of food.  The poor are also deprived of being educated.  We organized a book donation drive and donated the books to the shelter as well, so they can have some books to read.  Being educated, the poor can overcome poverty.  We think that the poof of the world are human beings, and for the sake of humanity, we should help them to keep their existence on the Earth.  Above all, they are citizens of the country.
  • planted flowers in a public area that needed some color.  Now it is nice looking.
