Deforestation PDF Print E-mail
Students at the Halishahar Munshipara High School researched and presented a discussion of deforestation at an Earth Day assembly at their school.  The student team put the project together as an after school activity on the week before Earth Day.  They prepared a presentation using powerpoint software and pictures from the internet.  They addressed their school and community.

Here are some of the things they had to say:

Deforestation is a common problem now-a-days. Deforestation means cutting down trees in large number. There are many reasons of deforestation. They are as follows:

  • To draw quick profit from trees men cut them in large numbers.
  • Trees are destroyed mostly for being used as fire wood in kitchen and brick fields.
  • People cut down immature trees, regularly in making house , boats and furniture .
  • Most of the owners of saw-mills and timber traders destroyed trees with the link of some forest officers.
  • General people do not know that trees are our constant companions in our day to day life.
  • Majority of our people are illiterate and they do not know, felling of trees is bad.

Measures to control Deforestation

Trees are indispensable part of our life. But our people cut trees without any discrimination . This destruction disturbs our ecological balance. So far as the causes are concerned we should adopt some immediate measures to control deforestation. The measures are:

  • We have to educate our common people and to persuade them to abstain from cutting down trees.
  • Each and everybody of us should take part in tree plantation.
  • We should come forward to make tree plantation campaign a success.
  • Felling of trees may be stopped best by creating public awareness.

Students of Class IX and X, with the assistance of Md. Mostafa, Md. Arif and Mrs. Mondira Das.
