Earth Day in Gazipur PDF Print E-mail
Students at the Joydepur Girls High School in Gazipur celebrated Earth Day and GYSD by planting flowers and trees on their school ground.  Sarah Duffy, an officer from the US embassy, was on hand to plant a tree and give a short talk about the importance of conserving the environment.   School students and Girl Guides were in charge of the planting, which took place along the borders of the school property and in front of the main building.  The Joydepur Girls High School is a partner school participating in the Global Connections and Exchange Program.

More than 1,000 students and staff of the school participated in the tree planting ceremony.  Tall, shade-giving trees were positioned near the front of the school and will help cool the school in years to come.

The Global Connections and Exchange Project – Bangladesh is a project of Relief International - Schools Online's Global
Citizenship & Youth Philanthropy Program and has been made possible with major funding from the United States State Department Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Global Catalyst Foundation.
