Lela was responsible for coordinating student and teacher exchange programs in Bangladesh. She worked closely with our staff in California to make sure that exchanges run smoothly on the Bangladesh end. Having traveled extensively in Bangladesh and speaking Bangla fluently, she was the perfect person to facilitate visits between the US and Bangladesh. She was in the second group of Peace Corp Volunteers to serve in Bangladesh, and provided training to primary school teachers.
