GCE students draw for future with US LINC students

On April 5, 2007, GCE students in Gazipur participated in a drawing program titled "Drawing for the Future" with the visiting US exchange students under the Linking Individual, Culture and Knowledge (LINC). Ten US students and about 30 Bangladeshi students from Joydebpur Girls High School and Rani Bilashmoni Boys High School took part in the event. Later, the art works completed by the Bangladeshi and US students jointly were displayed at the school campus on the occasion of Global Youth Service Day 2007.

Best ILC award 2006- 07

Recently, Relief International Bangladesh has introduced best ILC award for GCE schools. The criteria for selecting the best ILC include but not limited to participation of GCE students in cross cultural collaborative projects and online forum, ILC based club activities, participation in training programs, community participation in GCE and interest to achieve sustainability of ILC. Based on these criteria, RI has selected Chowara Girls High School in Comilla cluster as the best ILC in 2006-07.The Chowara School officials received the award crest and a certificate in a formal award giving ceremony during the GCE conference on 13 March, 2007.

LINC Program 2007

A group of American youth will visit Bangladesh in April 2007 and participate in a 3-week Exchange under the the Linking Individuals, Knowledge and Culture (LINC) Program implemented by Relief International with generous funding from the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the US State Department. The program gives Bangladeshi and American youth the opportunity to learn about science and technology, community service/volunteerism, youth leadership, and cross cultural understanding.

ILC at a Madrasa in Khulna

This is probably first of its kind in Bangladesh: students of a madrasa are going to participate in cross cultural collaborations using information and communication technologies such as computer, online discussion forum, digital camera etc. In October 2005, RI SOL has signed up an agreement with the Khulna Alia Madrasa, a public owned religious school with a student population of nearly 1300, to set up an Internet Learning center.
