Relief International (RI) Bangladesh is very excited to announce the establishment of a second Internet Learning Center (ILC) at a Madrasa. The Uttara Badda Islamia Kamil Madrasa was very successful in generating community and financial support to commit to the program and to rennovate a suitable space to host the ILC. Many Madrasa schools in Bangladesh struggle for resources and many are dependent on financial support from their communities and/or on government subsidies. Establishing ILC's in Madrasa schools (religious school) is part of RI's commitment to enabling Madrasa students and teachers to use new information technologies, to gain greater exposure to resources and educational materials available on the Internet and to provide training on the use of computers and other information technologies. The set up of the ILC is part of the Global Connections and Exchange Program (GCEP), which connects Bangladeshi schools with other schools all over the world. The ILC will bring new opportunities for the Madrasa students and teachers; especially those offered by the revolution of information technologies. Above all, the students will have the chance to connect with students and educators from around the world through online cross-cultural collaborations.

The Global Connections and Exchange Project – Bangladesh is a project of Relief International - Schools Online's Global
Citizenship & Youth Philanthropy Program and has been made possible with major funding from the United States State Department Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Global Catalyst Foundation.
