GCEP ICT and Education Conference 2007 in Dhaka |

In March, Relief International organized its second GCEP Education Conference in Dhaka which was attended by lead teachers, schools heads and partner NGO representatives from Bangladesh. The two day long conference, held at the BRAC TARC in Savar, provided the GCE teachers with opportunity to share their experience with the GCE program and to build a professional network among them. About 70 participants attended the conference. The event also brought together all GCE staffs from Relief International's Dhaka and regional offices.

The conference started with a presentation on GCE Bangladesh program which was followed by a number of short presentations by GCE lead teachers. The teachers have highlighted the impacts of GCE program activities in their schools and communities. On the first day of the conference, Bangladeshi and US GCE exchange teachers shared their exchange experiences with the participants. Mr. Iqbal Mohammad Zakir Hossen from Rani Bilashmoni High School in Gazipur shared his exchange experience in USA in February 2007 through a power point presentation while Ms. Stacey Farone, the visiting GCE US teacher from Maryland School for Deaf also talked about her school and her experience with Bangladesh visit in March 2007.
This year the conference highlighted creation of lesson plan integrating information and communication technology and use of internet in cross cultural collaboration and learning. Through group activities teachers were assigned to prepare lesson plans on a number of topics such as, removing illiteracy, drug abuse. The conference also included sessions on online forum and an open discussion on how to improve the quality of discussion on the forum and to increase the participation. On the concluding day of the conference, the ILC at Chowara Girsl High School in Comilla was awarded with the Best ILC Award 2007
