Teacher Professional Development Training in Comilla, Jessore and Chittagong District

As part of RI SOL's ongoing efforts to help Bangladeshi school teachers learn use and integration of technologies in teaching, GCE Bangladesh program organized Teacher Professional Development (TPD) training in Jessore, Chittagong and Dhaka districts. In Jessore the TPD took place on 15 -18 April at the Internet Learning Center of Badshah Faisal Islamic Institute. Ten participants from Jessore cluster schools including Khulna Alia Madrasa attended the training program. In Chittagong, TPD training was held at the Agrabad High School on 21 and 22 May and was attended by 36 teachers. The most recent TPD was held on 28 June at Yusuf MultiPurpose High School in Comilla city. Twenty teachers from the Comilla cluster participated in the training. The teachers from the Yusuf School, Chowara Girls School, Adventist International Missionary School and Shoilorani Girls School, Chowara Adarshaw Degree College, Panchagram Azizur Rahman High School, Baniachow High school, Karfulnessa Women's College, Panchagram Gonobidyalay were among the participants at the TPD in Comilla. The TPD training included session on cross cultural communication through internet based project, online forum and various aspects of monthly collaborative projects. The teachers also got opportunity to refresh their skills in using technologies in their academic activities. The participating teachers were very enthusiastic about the GCYP wiki space. In Comilla cluster, the teachers experienced a video conferencing for first time during the TPD. The training was very useful especially for the teachers who have recently joined the GCE program as Education Lead Teacher. Ms. Sajeda Begum, Education Officer and Ms. Eather Newaz, Education Coordinator, worked as lead trainers for the TPD held in the three clusters. Ms. Biva Nag, the Comilla Cluster Manager, Ms. Zakia Sultana, Jessore Cluster Manager and Mr. Ismail Babu, Chittagong Cluster Manager facilitated the TPD in their respective cluster. RI SOL Bangladesh would like to organize a series of refresher's TPD in all GCE clusters around Bangladesh as part of its drive to boost the spirit of GCE in the ILC schools.
