GCE Public Meeting in Bagerhat, Rangunia and Comilla PDF Print E-mail
Over the last three months, RI SOL organized several GCE public meeting to raise awareness about the goals of Global Connections and Exchange Program and to generate community support for the program. Every public meeting also serves as a public relation event for the GCE School and RI SOL to inform community people about the technology services available at the Internet Learning Center. Recently, RI SOL organized public meeting in Bagerhat, Rangunia and Comilla districts. The public meeting at the GBP Rangunia Folklore School was attended by local government officials, local council members, teachers and educators, representative from local media, officials of Gono Biddyalaya Project (GBP) and RI SOL. RI SOL has set up ILC in 5 folklore schools in partnership with GBP which is an indigenous NGO working to ensure education for poor youth in rural areas.

In Bagerhat district, the public meeting at the GBP School was attended by senior government officials, local community representatives and members. The Upazilla Nirbahi Officer (Sub district Executive Officer) expressed his gratitude to RI SOL and US State Department for extending technological support to the GBP folklore school. He told the audience that the school students would be able to broaden their horizon of knowledge utilizing the modern information and communication technologies such as computer and internet.

In August, Comilla Cluster organized a public meeting at the Chowara Girls High School. The meeting stressed utilization of the ILC to provide educational and training opportunity for disadvantaged youth.
