Earth Quake: Learning from the Past, Preparing for the Future

Bangladesh is at high risk of earthquake. Some 38 earthquakes of small to medium magnitude were felt in Bangladesh in the first eight months of the year of 2007 according to met office . Earth quake is an unpredictable disaster. Although this is a natural disaster the magnitude of the effects can be increased due to some man made activities. The students will collect information using internet about the earthquake. By doing this project the students will understand the following:

• The basic of earthquakes and how it occur
• The importance of high-quality construction in earthquake zones.
• The political aspects of earthquake preparedness and cleanup
• What we can learn from previous earthquakes and how these lessons can help us prepare for future earth quakes.
