Relief International and GCE Schools of Bangladesh Participate in Global Online Projects PDF Print E-mail

Dedicated to bringing about community development by promoting education and the use of ICT, Relief International Schools Online has once again engaged in some projects which are bound to foster growth of education and ICT skills of the participants. They are actively participating in the following global projects which have proved to be infinitely interesting for all those involved.

World Camp Project
The theme of this project is “Culture sharing by emailing based on World Camp Project”. The Badshah Faisal Islami Institute from Jessore and Heart and Soul Institute of Taiwan are key participants there. There are also some other countries participating in it, namely Brazil, Kenya, Switzerland and USA. This project has been conceived by the school Heart and Soul in Taiwan , in order to develop the English language skills of the students.

This is a camp which aims to teach students about different countries and cultures. It aims to encourage students of the participating countries to send emails to each other, and to exchange information about their cultures and lives, which will broaden their horizons and at the same time considerably improve their communication skills. The ages of the participating students varies from 7-16, which provides a chance for a diverse group of young people to interact. Involvement in such global ventures at these early ages is sure to sharpen the young minds significantly; this project is sure to be a very helpful one for all participants.

The Way We Are
This is another project in which a Bangladeshi school is actively participating with a US school. It is being conducted between the Pahartali Girls’ High School of Chittagong and the Al-Salaam Day School of St. Louis, Missouri. The two schools are currently involved in this stimulating collaboration which has been quite a remarkable experience for both schools. This happens to be a culture exchange project by students emailing through Epals www.epals.com online.

Through this project students find out how they are similar or different from their ePals, and how the physical and climate differences in their ePal’s region affect their ePal’s life. Students can also find out what effect their ePal`s culture has had on the ePal`s life and what has been the consequences. This project will allow students to give detailed descriptions about their lives to their ePals, and also gauge the culture differences they have. By clearly identifying similarities and differences between themselves and their ePals, the students will know what it means to be from a different culture and will be able to better communicate with each other.

World War II
This particular project involves The Twelve Corners Middle School situated in Rochester, New York and the Rani Bilashmoni Govt. Boys High School of Gazipur. The collaboration is actually a history Project on World War II http://worldwariitcms.pbworks.com/.Five different countries, namely Israel, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia and Bangladesh are involved in it. This project takes a very new and innovative approach to studying.

The eighth grade students of The Twelve Corners Middle School are reading up on World War II, and they are trying to get their peers living in other countries to also share their views regarding the war. What’s more, they want to find out how the students in other countries are taught about the World War, how that differs from what they have learned. Altogether this project makes learning a lot more intriguing as views of people of different cultures and regions come together. Students are certain to learn a lot from this particular venture.
