Exchange Students Sent to USA Engage in First Video Conference of Their Trip PDF Print E-mail

The atmosphere at Rani Bilashmoni Govt. Boys High School in Gazipur was charged with excitement as students and teachers prepared to engage in the first live conference with the students who have been sent to USA on an exchange program under the Global Connections and Exchange Program. The visiting students participated in the video conference from The Waterloo Junior High School in Illinois in the USA, where the American students were also eagerly waiting to communicate with our local students here.

Anticipation ran so high that both schools were ready with their setup much before scheduled time. Although the conference was supposed to start at 8 pm Bangladesh time, the participating schools were able to start it at 7:20 pm. Teachers and students here spoke eagerly to their peers in USA, and all the exchange students along with the RI exchange officer expressed their satisfaction with their trip. So far it has been an extremely enjoyable and inspiring visit for them all; they hope to learn much more as they participate in a range of activities in the days to come. The father of one of the visiting students was also present to take part in this conference, and was pleased to see that his son has had such an invigorating trip so far. Everyone present at the conference listened intently as they were given details about the experiences that the exchange students have had so till now. The local students also communicated with the American students there, which , like all the other times, was a delightful experience for them.

Finally the session ended around 8:10 pm. After 4o minutes of interaction, all participants both in Bangladesh and USA were thoroughly pleased. RI aims to organize more such stimulating conferences in the near future and further develop the IT skills of all involved. All it really takes is a computer, web camera, microphones and a headphone-with a normal internet connection-and the world becomes a boundary less platform.
