Bangladeshi students of the GCE Schools will have much to look forward to during the 8th, 9th and 10th of June 2009. The lucky students are from the GCE Schools Rani Bilashmoni Govt. Boys High School, Uttar Badda Islamia Kamil Madrashah and Siraj Uddin Sarker Vidyaniketan, who will get a chance to participate in the “Road to The White House” program. This program will be an interactive session conducted
to educate the Bangladeshi students about U.S. Elections Procedures including the presidential elections and other relevant issues such as transition of power, democracy practices etc. The session will be carried on through discussion and Q & A, and Relief International-Schools Online is collaborating with Change Makers and The American Center in Bangladesh to organize this program at the GCE schools .
This program aims to foster the students’ knowledge about the US electoral process and help develop their understanding of it. Being familiar with the key concepts such as democracy and their rights is bound to enhance the student’s mental growth and awareness. According to the program schedule, representatives from the American Center will make a PowerPoint presentation on the subject for around half an hour, and then the participants will be given the chance to ask questions on the subject. The session should be informative for the students, and they must give proper feed back by putting forth their queries and views .Proper interaction and communication between the students and the presenters is necessary for the success of the program. It has been decided that it would be best if the program is run among high school and madrasa (students of Islamic schools) students. It will be a two hours long program, with about 70-80 students attending the discussion in a large room.
Relief International-Schools Online, Change Makers, and The American Center hope to have a very useful discussion for the students. After getting a comprehensive guide to the electoral process of the USA, which stands as an epitome to democracy, the better enlightened GCE schools and students will surely be able to bring about certain positive changes in our society. |
