US Embassy Officials meet GCE students and teachers in Gazipur PDF Print E-mail

Students of the GCE schools always seem to be in the limelight- they keep getting visitors and making their mark. And Rani Bilashmoni Govt Boys’ High School is no different- the students’ enthusiasm and unfailing participation have long inspired visitors to go see their school and their activities. On 29 July 2009, the Acting Public Affairs Officer Mr. Brent Beemer, paid a visit to Rani Bilashmoni Govt Boys’ High School to meet students and teachers who participate in the Global Connections and Exchange Program, a US State Department project that promotes use and integration of Information Technology in education and cross cultural learning.

Brent was accompanied by Ms. Erin Roeke Burke, an active intern in the Public Affairs Department of the Embassy. Both visitors received a warm welcome from all the students and teachers present there, and the students also showed a power point presentation about the GCE activities at the school. Students answered Brent and Erin’s queries with avid interest, and both visitors were suitably impressed to see the operation of the Internet Learning Center and the participation of the students. A diverse group of students, starting from sixth graders to tenth graders, all gathered together to answer the visitors’ questions and give an insight into their school and GCE activities.

The visitors much appreciated the efforts and zeal of the students and encouraged them to keep up the good work. Rani Bilashmoni Boys’ School and RI- SOL were very happy to get the visitors and hope to host many more such events in the future.
