The online collaborative projects started by the GCE members are well underway and are running very successfully. The line between education and enjoyment has not only blurred- it no longer exists! These projects show how the students of the 21st century can enjoy themselves tremendously while learning, and here we have some updates about two of the ongoing projects:
The Way We Are
The students of Waterloo Junior High School, Illinois, USA and Yusuf Multipurpose Technical High School and Chowara Girls' High School in Comilla, Bangladesh have completed the 1st quarter project work on "The Way We Are" through epals online project site www.epals.com. In the 1st quarter the students of those schools exchanged mails on topics such as All About Me, A Day in My Life and Culture & Climate through their epals email addresses. After exchanging mails they developed their project wiki site by uploading the information of differences and similarities of each pair on those topics. The information of their projects is available at: http://waterloousa-comillabangladesh8.wikispaces.com/ and http://waterloousa-comillabangladesh7.wikispaces.com/.
The Global Coalition for Peace, Education and Cultural Awareness
Two project teachers of GCE Bangladesh schools named Ms. Rasheda Akter, Chowara Girls' High School, Comilla and Md. Mamunul Quader, Pahartali Girls' High School, Chittagong have successfully accomplished the 1st step of their work of the project " The Global Coalition for Peace, Education and Cultural Awareness" by each sending a letter to Bill Reilly, Bethlehem Central Middle School, Upstate, New York, USA, project coordinator. The letter they sent was the "Letter of Introduction". Mr. Bill published their letter of Introduction on the global coalition project website at: http://bcsd.k12.ny.us/middle/Global/global.htm under the content of "Read Teacher Letters of Introduction".
The Bangladesh GCE teachers and students have thoroughly enjoyed their experiences so far and are looking forward to each project’s successful completion. Knowing the GCE team, more and more fun and innovative learning activities are just around the corner.
