10 teachers affiliated with the GCEP network participated in the Intel Master Trainers’ Training held at TARC, Gazipur and what a training it was! Enthusiasm and energy levels ran high as Relief International- Schools Online staff conducted the 4 days long training in accordance with the MoU signed between Relief International- Schools Online, US State Department and Intel Corp. Teachers exhibited unadulterated excitement and willingness to grasp the concepts being taught, and the entire session far surpassed the expectations of all the stakeholders.
The goal of the program was to train the participants on the use and integration of 21st century skills in today’s classrooms, and on adoption of a more student centric approach in education. 3 members of the RI- SOL team, Mr. Mahbub Alamgir, Mrs. Lazina Sharmin and Ms. Eather Newaz, conducted the sessions after having been trained by a Senior Trainer from Intel Pakistan. Strong emphasis was put on the importance of getting students to engage in collaborative problem solving, critical thinking and higher order learning. Teachers quickly grasped the ideas and demonstrated their action plans about how to incorporate these new methods in their respective classrooms. Each action plan was well thought out and highly impressive, even though some of the participants had never touched a computer prior to this training! The most interesting fact was that teachers who live in the rural areas far outside the capital city, in some cases demonstrated overall better understanding than their peers.
The GCEP program has always brought about new and exciting elements into the world of education, and this four days long session was no different. The successful completion of the program is a testament to the fact that a much brighter and well enlightened future awaits the students of our nation, and persistence and diligence can indeed go a long way in driving positive changes. |
